Christopher -
It's a rainy Saturday morning and I'm sitting at the table with you while you eat your breakfast, tryng to think of the significant things that have happened recently that I can write about.
...hold that thought... you are having a tantrum so it looks like I'm going to have to come back to this later.
Well, it's 9:20p and dad is putting you to bed and I'm just now getting back to this...
I think a couple of days ago you actually got to feel Beep kick. You and I were in the rocking chair cuddling before your nap and you were kind of lying across my lap/stomach. I felt him kick and you started to giggle and put your hand on my belly. What are you going to think of him when he's finally here? You like to lift up my shirt and say "beep" and then you'll kiss my belly.
We're working on your new room and will hopefully start practicing with you taking your naps in there within the next week or so. You're growing up so fast! Something tells me I'm going to be saying that a lot.
you and dad have a unique night time tooth brushing routine. Dad holds you and brushes your teeth while you hold a tube of toothpaste and dip your finer in it and paint dad's face with it. Whatever works, I guess.
We started putting you in your portable high chair as a booster seat at meals and we just pull it up to the table without the tray. You look like such a big boy.
We've started doing weekly play dates with Crystal and Allison and their boys and I think it's really good for you. You guys don't actually play "together" but you're playing and sharing toys so I think it's good. I'll ask you who we played with this week and you'll say "zuke and jake and seff" over and over. You make me smile.
You're also starting to learn the words and actions to "itsy bitsy spider."
That's all I'm going to write for now because I think my pen is going to die soon.
I love you! You make me very happy!

You are so into basketball right now. The first thing you say when you get up in the morning is "shoot" or "hoop" and I think it's the last thing you say before you go to bed. You have a hoop in your bedroom and one downstairs in the play room and you pretty much try to shoot whatever you can in there: basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, little plastic eggs, etc. And you love saying "slam dunk". You're actually getting pretty good.
Grandma Stephanie brought you over a fish yesterday. We still need to name it but I think you like it. I just hope it lasts a reasonable amount of time. I really don't want it to die in the first week.
You also love Sesame Street so I've been recording it so we can watch it whenever. At least it is somewhat educational. We still haven't let you play pac, only when you're at Grandma Stephanie's.
I think Grandma Julie's name is now officially "Jeep". You were calling all of the grandparents "grap", but she didn't want to be called that so she started calling herself g-ma. Somehow you decided to call her Jeep and it has stuck. You also call your little brother in my belly "beep".
I just watched you play hockey with your puzzle pieces and a fly swatter, a game you came up with entirely by yourself. I'm glad to see you have an imagination!
I love you to pieces!

I wanted to write about the "fun" experience we had last week when we took you to get your hair cut. The last 2 times you got your hair cut dad took you and said that it wasn't too bad. This time, however, you did not want to cooperate. The stylist had to cut your hair while dad and I took turns holding you. You would not sit down or stand up and the only things we could find to distract you were a broom (or "boof" as you call it) and some balloons (or "boots" as you call them). When we were done there was hair everywhere. Hopefully it's now short enough that we won't have to go back for a while.
You have been addicted to the pac man game. I'm starting to wonder if we need to have an intervention. I've started hiding the game thinking that if you can't see it you'll forget about it. So far my strategy has not been working, but I've been able to distract you with other things most of the time.
You're getting pretty good at feeding yourself, even with utensils. It's amazing watching you learn and figure things out.

Christopher -
I got to take a break today and have some snuggle time with you. You took a really short nap so I went in and got you and we sat in the recliner and you fell back to sleep on me. You're getting so big but I guess you're still my baby. I slept a little bit too, but mostly I just looked at you and held you and thought about how much I love you and how happy you make me. You are growing so fast and you have such an infectious personality. You are so happy (most of the time) and you're actually starting to get pretty goofy. You like to jump on dad and poke his belly button. You can say so many words and know a lot of animal sounds. You love books and often make us read the same ones over and over. We;re trying to tell you about your new baby brother/sister, but it will be a while before you even begin to understand.
I love you!

You are able to make some animal sounds: lion, horse (you raise your hand up in the air), snake, cow, duck
You know your eyes, nose, teeth, and ears
You have started climbing on things, like the coffee table
We have the Christmas tree up and you are fascinated by the lights.

- A couple of weeks ago you were hiding your milk and your toys in a pot in the cupboard. (look for picture to post)
- Last night the 3 of us were hanging out in your room and you started pulling your socks out of the drawer and putting them in one of your toy baskets. Once it was full you dumped all the socks onto the floor. Then, dad asked you to put them away and you picked them up and one by one put them back in the drawer.
- You can now say: "shoes", "clock", "socks"
- You can point to your nose and teeth and high to the sky.
- You give kisses by turning you head and putting your cheek against my face, letting me give you a kiss.

- Your first airplane ride: trip to Denver for Ben and Heather's wedding. We were on the same plane with Jeff, Kristi, Toby and Mile. You stayed awake the whole flight. You played with the air conditioner vent, and you flirted with the baby girl that was sitting in front of us.
- When we got to the car rental place we were standing by the car and I was holding you and all of a sudden my foot was getting wet. Somehow, you peed on me!
- You slept in the hotel all nights while we were there.
- We went swimming. Friday you seemed really clingy and didn't want to let go of me at all, but when we went on Saturday with dad you seemed much more comfortable.
9/20/2009
- You said "happy", your first 2 syllable word
9/26/2009
- We went to Bear Lake on an ee retreat. We took you down to the lake but we thought we were going to be hanging out on the beach. I thought it would be too cold to even touch the water, but the water was shallow and it was late enough in the day that it was warm enough to walk in. You walked in the water and aplashed and fell and played in the sand. You really enjoyed it!
9/27/2009
- While at Bear Lake we drove up Bloomington Canyon and hiked to a glacier lake. Unfortunately, since we didn't have a backpack or baby carrier Dad had to carry you the whole time. But you did really well and it was good exercise for dad.
