Christopher-
Today was your first day of preschool at the Nano Nagle Child Care Center at St. Vincent's. Dad dropped you off this morning and then dad and Alex and I all picked you up. I knew I would cry if I was the one that dropped you off so we thought it would be better if dad did it. I think you had a little bit of a melt down after dad left and you were crying when we got there. When I saw you crying it made me cry a little. In fact, just thinking about it is making me cry right now. I'm sure you'll get comfortable eventually. But since you are only going to be going 2 days a week I just worry that it's going to take a long time. Dad and I went to an engaged encounter convention this past weekend and one of the things that one of the speakers said is that life is not about the destination it's about the journey. That's something that keeps going through my head. I keep trying to think about and influence how you'll be and who you'll be in the future instead of appreciating you and loving you for who you are now. You're not going to be 2 years old forever so I need to take advantage of the time and experiences that I have with you now. I don't know exactly what that means, but I guess for now I just need to stop worrying about whether or not you'll cry when you go to school on Thursday. I'm going to be here for you if you need me and focus on the positive things so that you'll look forward to going to school.
So, I'm totally over analyzing. I love you so much and just want to do everything I can so that you'll be happy!

Christopher-
You are growing and changing so much every day I can't believe it! You can count really well, or at least say the numbers. You can't quite count actual objects yet. And you've started singing / saying your abc's. We're going to have to get out the video camera for that. You're going to start "school" at St. Vincent's / Nano Nagle on October 5th. We took you there earlier this week so that you can have a look around. I'm really excited for you. I think you'll have fun and learn some new things and it will be good for you to be around other kids. It's where Toby and Miles go to school and you seem pretty happy about that. Every time we mention school you say "see Toby". I'm a little concerned how it will change our schedule. It's almost 8:30a right now and you are still sleeping. But you are supposed to be at school at 8:30a, possibly earlier if dad takes you so that he can get to work on time. We'll see. I know that there will be kinks that we need to work out.
I'm not sure if I've already mentioned this but Grandma Stephanie bought you a tricycle a while back for you to keep up at her house and Jeep bought you one for here. You mostly just push it around, but the other day I think you actually pedaled a little. :)
I love watching you learn new things and figure stuff out. You always seem so proud of yourself. Oh, you can also say your name: Chrisfer James Pa dro za
I love you! You make me smile!

We went to the aquarium yesterday with Granny, Aunt Toodie, Auntie Rie, Uncle Jim and Emma. You had a lot of fun. I don't think you had any melt downs. You sat on the frog and drove the boat. You sat in the little wooden boat. The last time we went you wouldn't even think about crawling through the caves in the children's corner. This time you were all over them. You also got to touch the sting ray and you let Auntie Rie help you touch the other sea creatures.
We went to a BBQ over at Uncle Greg's. Grandma Bev, Uncle Greg, Uncle Kyle, Grandpa, uncle Jess, Uncle Val, Aunt Ave, Uncle Gary, Aunt Ann, Philip and Issac were there. You ran around a lot and entertained us all. However, you were having fun pushing and rocking Grandpa's chair and somehow you lost your balance and fell. You got your first bloody nose and bled all over Grandpa's white shirt.

Christopher-
Last Thursday, 8/24, we went to Auntie Rie and Tyson's softball game. You love Tyson, I think he's your hero, which is probably good for both of you. I think he enjoys playing with you. There is a playground by the ball field and you like to play over there. You'll usually climb up the stairs to the slide but you won't actually go down. Tyson took you over there and basically made you go down the slide. You ended up going down a bunch of times by yourself and you seemed to really like it. Then later dad took you to the swings and you actually swung on the swing with dad and you were smiling and laughing. Then I saw you actually on the swing by yourself.
On Wednesday, 8/25, you pooped in the potty for the first time, I think you're ready to really start potty training, it's just a matter of me and dad being ready.
Last night, 8/26, you laid down on your back in the bathtub. We've struggled with washing and rinsing out your hair because you wouldn't lay back and you don't like us just dumping water on your head. But you just decided to lay back last night and you liked it. I keep hoping that one of these days you'll surprise us and figure out how to fall asleep on your own.

Christopher-
So, how would you feel about going to a daycare / preschool a couple days a week? We have already been planning for you to go to preschool when you turn 3. I think I'm finally convinced that you would benefit from something like that now. We've talked about it for a while but I always felt really guilty about the idea of shipping you off because I'm overwhelmed. Last week we had a few play dates and you seem so shy and uncomfortable around the other kids. I know that will change once Alex is old enough to play with you, but I still think it might help if you had some play time with other kids without me. Plus, you would probably get to do some arts and crafts type things and learn new songs, etc. It would add another dimension to your life. Now, who knows if it will actually happen. I'm going to start researching preschools, specifically for a 3 year old program, so you may or may not get into something before then. Either way, at least I finally feel good about looking into it. No matter when you start "school" I know I will be one of those moms that cries when I drop you off. But I will try my hardest not to cry in front of you. It's not that I don't want you to see me cry, it's just that I don't want you to turn into a cry baby like me.
I love you very much and want what is best for you. I'm just struggling trying to figure out what that is!

Christopher-
Jeep took this week off and has been hanging out with us to help me. Today we all went to Tracy Aviary to see the birds. What an adventure. We got there just in time for the free bird show. We lasted about 5 minutes and all of a sudden you started crying. I'm not sure if you were scared or what, but you were crying really loud. So I took you out of the amphitheater. You kept trying to run off and "no" was your word of the day. I really struggled today. You stumbled upon some pine cones and gathered up as many as you could carry and we found a garbage can that you could shoot them into. We bought some food so that you could feed the ducks and swans and you seemed to enjoy that. You also decided to throw your juice cup over a fence, Luckily, Jeep figured out that the fence wasn't entirely connected so she was able to rescue the cup.
All in all I think you had a fun time but it was kind of overwhelming and stressful for me.
